While the Jurala project irrigation officials are worried over the fast dwindling water level in the reservoir, the ayacutdars on Monday have staged dharnas at two places - one on the dam and the second one in front of Superintending Engineer Office at Gadwal, demanding release of sufficient water to their standing crops.

The farmers locked the office of SE and did not allow any staff member to entre the office building.

Bowing to the demand of the farmers, the SE Khagendranath agreed to release 400 cusecs of water from each right and left main canals.

Though water in the reservoir reduces below maximum draw down level (MDDL).
