The body of N. Sandeep Samson (25), an assistant engineer of Rayalaseema Thermal Power Plant (RTPP) and training now at Narla Tatarao Thermal Power Station (NTTPS), who drowned in river Krishna here on Sunday, was traced by expert swimmers of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on Monday.

Samson’s body was found around 2 p.m. off the sand reaches situated about 10 k.m. from the temple town of Amaravathi, where the duo went missing on Sunday evening.

Thirteen engineers from different power plants, who were on a refresher training programme at the NTTPS, had engaged a boat from Ibrahimpatnam to Amaravathi on Sunday morning and tragedy struck them at dusk when Samson and Panduranga Rao got down the boat at a shallow point close to the sand quarry at Vaikunthapuram for a dip and sank in it even as their colleagues watched helplessly.
