Plan to launch training in jute product-making for women SHGs, youth Demand for jute products like gunny bags is on the increase

NIZAMABAD: As part of efforts to empower women, the district administration plans to provide training in jute product-making to 25,000 women self-help groups and unemployed youth. The demand for jute products like gunny bags has been increasing as they are widely used for grain storage in FCI godowns and sugar factories.

Awareness needs to be created on the uses of jute products in the district, according to District Collector I.S. Sri Naresh.

He was addressing a meeting after the inaugural of the jute awareness camp-cum-exhibition conducted at Pragati Bhavan here on Friday. The camp was held under the aegis of the Jute Service Centre, Warangal. A number of women groups put the articles they made, on sale.

Project Director, Indira Kranthi Patham P. Chinatataiah said the district administration was ready to undertake any kind of schemes and programmes which would be useful for women empowerment. A separate unit would be set up to encourage jute products in the district.
