NIZAMABAD: Children planted saplings in 10 villages in Varni mandal on Saturday in response to the call given by Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union against global warming as part of its global warming awareness campaign.
The programme was jointly organised by All India Radio, Nizamabad station; Samskar-Plan International, Varni; the Forest Department and Jana Vignana Vedika.
The forest officials supported the programme by supplying 500 pongamia plants for this purpose.
Addressing a meeting conducted in connection with the programme at the Kotaiah Camp, AIR Programme Executive V. Udayasankar said that the awareness campaign on global warming and on the importance of tree plantation was being done through his station since June 5.
Samskar project director Kompally H.S.S. Sundar, JVV president P. Ram Mohan Rao and others spoke.
