HYDERABAD: The Ranga Reddy District Review Committee meeting with urban MLAs on Wednesday asked the civic departments to establish better coordination among them to ensure improvement of amenities and specially resolve issues related to the supply of drinking water.
The meeting chaired by Minister for Major and Medium Irrigation Ponnala Laxmaiah with participation of Minister for Home Sabitha Indra Reddy and officials put the drinking water supply in the focus and tried to work out details on summer contingency plans. Most of the MLAs present at the meeting took a critical view of the water supply and in some instances lack of coordination between the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on the issue.
Serilingampally MLA Bhikshapathi Yadav charged the HMWSSB of neglecting the drinking water needs in different colonies in his constituency and not attending to leakages and ensuring proper supplies. On failing to get appropriate responses from the officials on different occasions, Mr. Laxmaiah pulled them up saying that, “it's March and you talk of looking into issues related to water supply. What happened to your summer contingency plan?”
During the course of discussion on encroachments, Ranga Reddy district Collector D. Kishore assured to get all government school buildings in the district surveyed on priority basis and take necessary steps to have them protected.
