YSR agrees to sanction Rs. 20 crore
KADAPA: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy agreed to sanction Rs. 20 crores to modernise five major drains in Proddatur town with concrete bed and levelling, Proddatur municipal chairperson E. Malleswari said on Wednesday.
Proddatur MLA N. Varadarajulu Reddy presented a project report to improve Madur, Kothapalle and Dorasanipalle canals and Proddatur channels I and II with estimates of Rs. 20 crores to Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and he agreed to release the funds, Ms. Malleswari told newsmen at Proddatur.
A sum of Rs. 2 crore was sanctioned this year and the remaining Rs. 18 crores was assured in the next budget.
Tenders would be called and works would be commence soon, she stated. Modernisation of the five drains would help improve sanitation and safeguard public health in Proddatur town, she said. She thanked the Chief Minister and the MLA.
