CPI(M) leaders seek probe into fund misuse
Several locals and traders expressed serious concern over the lapses in the construction of drainage system in Srikakulam. They are also unhappy with inordinate delay in road-widening works in a few pockets of the town. Opposition parties including Left parties are up in arms against the poor quality of works in Balaga-RIMS stretch and Pedapadu road.
The government sanctioned more than Rs.2 crore for the new drainage system after the inundation of many colonies like Visakha-A Colony, Indiranagar, Balaga and other places with the unprecedented floods in November, 2012.
CPI(M) leaders on Thursday submitted a petition to the in-charge Collector Pola Bhaskar and sought a probe into alleged misuse of funds in the construction of drainage system. “There is no proper connectivity for all the stretches in the town. The entire drainage system will get damaged if Srikakulam witnesses another flood,” said Mr.Panchadi Paparao, town secretary of CPI(M).
