The breast cancer specialist played a key role in establishing ABSI and was its honorary secretary between 2011-2013.

According to ABSI, Dr. Raghu Ram had recognised the huge disparity in outcomes of patients affected with breast disease, especially breast cancer in the country and there was a need to improve delivery of breast health care in India.
