VISAKHAPATNAM: A case was booked against the husband and the in-laws of a woman on a dowry harassment charge. V. Nagaveni of Penugonda in West Godavari district married Krishna Prasad of Gajuwaka in 2001. He was reportedly given Rs. 8 lakhs as dowry at the time of marriage. Prasad is employed as a teacher. The couple have a daughter. Of late, on instigation of his parents, Prasad allegedly started harassing his wife for more dowry. The Gajuwaka police registered a case against Prasad, his parents and brother.
A private security guard was beaten up allegedly by two persons on Thursday night. G. Raju, a resident of Sheelanagar, was employed as a guard in a private company. The accused persons M. Appala Raju and M. Rama Rao accosted him when he was going home alone and demanded some money to buy liquor. When he refused, they beat him up and left the place.
