Superintendent of Police (Urban) S. Shyam Sunder urged the policemen not to neglect their health, being busy on official duties round the clock.
Inaugurating a free screening camp for the traffic policemen here on Wednesday, Mr. Shyam Sunder thanked V. Nageshwar of Aswini Hospitals for conducting a free camp on the occasion of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (CPOD) Day. The police personnel, particularly those in the traffic regulation wing, were more prone to respiratory and other chest diseases as they are forced to stand on the road inhaling the smoke from all vehicles. Despite the care taken, still they have more chances of contracting some or other disease.
“You must take time out to get health check-up and ensure that you keep healthy always,” he told the police men at the free camp.
Dr. Nageshwar said many traffic personnel work under stress, both physical and psychological while standing at traffic islands for long time. Warangal DSP (Traffic) Ravi Kumar, CIs K. Surender and Jayaram, SIs K. Someswar Rao, Md Anwar, Kanakaiah were present.
