West Zone Assistant Commissioner of Police T. Harikrishna advised the students of Kakaraparti Bhavanarayana (KBN) College to lead a discipline life and not to indulge in activities such as ragging, as strict action can be initiated if caught in the act of ragging.
He was addressing an awareness meet, organised by the NSS unit of the KBN College, on ragging and traffic rules at the college here on Wednesday.
The police officer pointed out that hurting the sentiments also amounts to ragging. Ragging came into being only to familiarise with the new students joining the institution and not to trouble them physically or mentally.
Mr. Harikrishna also urged the students to follow traffic rules, as following rules would reduce many traffic problems.
The Circle Inspector of Police P. Venkateswarulu said that the students should not deviate from their aims and objectives.
The freshers should be guided properly on the campus so that they could adapt to the new conditions quickly.
The Principal of the college P. Krishnamurthy, Vice-Principal V. Narayana Rao, NSS unit programme officer Seshagiri Rao and Junior College Principal S. Sashikala were present.
