Protest against the assault of doctor on duty by attendants

KURNOOL: Doctors and house surgeons of Government General Hospital here proposed to strike work Sunday onwards to protest against the assault of doctor on duty by the attendants of a patient.

According to reports, the attendants of a patient Krishna Reddy assaulted Dr. Khureshi after the patient died of brain stroke last night. The attendants accused the doctor of negligence and undue delay in rendering medical assistance to the patient who was in a serious condition.

Meanwhile, the doctors alleged that the attendants of patient had misbehaved with the staff and duty doctor after the death and assaulted them. The doctor denied the charge of negligence.

Meanwhile, State President of Government Doctors Association P. Srinivas, secretary Ramesh Reddy held a meeting with the doctors and representatives of house surgeons and medical associations and decided to go on strike.

They demanded arrest of people responsible for the attack on the doctor, post mortem on the patient’s body and framing of charges under the special law passed in support of medical fraternity.

Meanwhile, the body was removed boy police to ease tension on the campus. The medical personnel alleged that the police had shifted the body without post mortem.

Association leaders said only emergency cases would be examined and asked the patients to cooperate with the doctors.
