KADAPA: Film actor-couple Jeevitha and Rajasekhar on Thursday appealed to senior leaders in the Congress not to mislead the party high command in choosing the successor to former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
Speaking to newsmen in the chamber of Kadapa Mayor P. Raveendranatha Reddy in Kadapa Municipal Corporation, they urged the Congress high command to take the right decision soon lest it might incur the wrath of the people. They visited Idupulapaya and paid homage at YSR Samadhi. Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy would be the right choice to succeed YSR, as he has the grit, determination and widespread support among the people like his late father had, they said. The people’s faith in Congress would be reinforced if Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy was made Chief Minister, they said and wondered on the reasons for delay.
Accusing senior Congress leaders of attempting to mislead the high command, the actor couple dared them to go to the people and put forth their version, rather than issue press statements.
The couple also visited the relay hunger strike camp and expressed solidarity with municipal corporators who were supporting Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy.
Kadapa Mayor P. Raveendranatha Reddy, district Seva Dal chairman B. Nityananda Reddy and Congress leader CRI Subba Reddy also participated.
