The Adilabad Labour Department on Friday urged employers not to engage children as labourers. Eerring employers would be fined heftily under the provisions of the relevant laws, officials warned.

At a press conference, in-charge Assistant Commissioner of Labour Ch. Jagadishwar Reddy, District Probation Officer A. Rajender, District Child Protection Officer Rajendra Prasad, Community Mobilisation Officer P. Veerender and coordinator of alternate schools Safdar Ali Khan said that a special drive was underway to curb practice of begging among children, besides curbing employment of children as labourers.

They said that their departments were working in coordination to rescue and rehabilitate rescued child labourers.
