Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) president and Lok Sabha member Asaduddin Owaisi appealed to the youth of Telangana region to not commit suicides for separate state.
“There is no one to look after the parents of those youth who committed suicides. A girl committed suicide in Nalgonda district for Telangana, which was very unfortunate,” he said while addressing the reporters here on Friday. Expressing concern over increasing suicides, he asked the Telangana protagonists to not be emotional and fight for the cause in a democratic manner. The MIM MP expressed sadness over the turn of events where youth resorted to suicides and the Centre, on the other hand, turned cold shoulder towards them and the Telangana cause.
He was here to attend a case in a district court along with five other legislators.
Mr. Asad said that it was the Central government which has to take a decision on the issue as all political parties expressed their views, though they were divergent. Asked whether the MIM would abide by the decision taken by the Union Government, he said: “We had already expressed our opinion five times- three times in the all party meeting and twice before Pranab Mukherjee Committee and Srikrishna Committee. Now the onus is on the Centre. Let them take a decision,” he said. Earlier in the day, Mr. Asad along with four other MLAs attended Judicial First Class Magistrate Court for a hearing in a case related to alleged assault on Collector A.K. Singhal in 2005.
