Krishna District Judge G. Chakradhara Rao on Thursday explained undertrial prisoners about the ‘Plea bargaining’ facility, which would allow the accused to plead the court to reduce his actual sentence period. Recently the Plea Bargaining guidelines were included in the CrPC –Section 265 following its amendment .

Addressing the gathering of 68 undertrial prisoners at Machilipatnam Sub-Jail, Mr. Chakradhara Rao made clear that a person who committed a crime and voluntarily confessed to it before the court was allowed to apply for the plea bargaining, through which the award of the sentence can be minimised . After interacting with the prisoners and answering their queries, he promised them that lawyers would be asked to visit the jail to extend legal aid. District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) has presented several Telugu Books on Law and Acts to the prisoners. District DLSA secretary Ch. Raju and senior lawyer L. Balaji and others also spoke.
