KADAPA: Photo-identity cards are being prepared for 72 crore eligible voters in the country, observer for electoral revision T. Radha said on Tuesday.

Addressing revenue officials at the Collectorate, he asked the Tahsildars, supervisors and booth-level officials to work in tandem and avert scope for lapses. He directed the Municipal Commissioner to forward data pertaining to deaths recorded in urban areas to facilitate deletion of their names .

Joint Collector M. Girijasankar asked the officials to strictly adhere to rules in preparation of voter lists . He wanted elimination of names of women who got married and shifted out of the district, exclusion of the names of voters who had died. Eleven-and-half lakh persons in thedistrict have photo-identity cards while 6 lakh did not possess them. Booth-level officers should complete revision process in time, he said.
