CPI (M) district committee welcomed the Collector's statement that mining of china clay would not take place in Dumbriguda mandal. Party's district secretary Ch. Narasinga Rao in a statement on Tuesday congratulated the Girijans on their united fight against china clay mining and said it was because of their agitation the fact that a benami propped up a Girijan woman for seeking mining lease came to light. He wanted criminal cases filed against the benamis to act as a deterrent.

He questioned how an NOC was issued on the land which was allotted to Girijans and demanded the Government to immediately issue pattadar passbooks to the farmers. The CPI (M) demanded an inquiry into all NOCs issued so far and cancel the benami applicants.
