Sub-Collector holds video conference

Take necessary proof while including or deleting a name, he says

VIJAYAWADA: Sub-Collector Gaurav Uppal on Tuesday instructed the officials to distribute voter identity cards in Penamaluru, Mylavaram, Nandigama and Jaggayyapeta Assembly segments immediately.

Addressing a video conference with tahsildars concerned, Dr. Uppal asked them to speed up the process and issue the cards before the commencement of filing of nominations by candidates aspiring to contest in the elections.

Applications for enrolment should be scrutinised and processed on day-to-day basis, and a review of the progress should be taken up, he said.

So far, 59,509 cards had been distributed against a total of 65,236 in Penamuluru mandal and 17,983 of the total 18,229 in Kankipadu mandal.

Of the total 26,974 cards in Vuyyuru mandal, 24,385 cards had been distributed. Similarly, 13,185 cards had been issued in Reddigudem mandal of Mylavaram segment against a total of 14,077 cards, while it was 13,696 cards out of 14,691 in Mylavaram mandal.

In Vijayawada rural mandal, 17,673 cards had been issued against a total of 18,373 cards, he detailed.

Dr. Uppal said that the cards should be issued directly to the voters, and necessary proofs should be taken while including or deleting the names in the list.

Meanwhile, Municipal Commissioner P. S. Pradyumna said voter identity cards would be issued at the doorstep of voters in Bhavanipuram, Vidyadharapuram, Bhimannavari Veedhi, Kothapeta, Mahantipuram, Mallikarjunapeta, Tarapet, Wynchpet, Old Rajarajeswaripeta, Poornandapeta, Pezzonipeta and other areas of Vijayawada West Assembly segment.

Voters could submit form-8 if any corrections needed to be carried out.
