The first regional conference of YSR Congress party, which the party’s honorary president Y. S. Vijayamma addressed here on Sunday, exposed its disorganised side. The honorary president as well as the north coastal districts convenor Sujaya Krishna Ranga Rao repeatedly appealed to unruly cadres to remain calm but to no avail.
Amidst the din, P. Sambsiva Raju, district convenor, said the meeting was convened in the wake of impending elections to panchayats and it was for the YSRC cadres to work hard to win at least half of the panchayats and make Kadapa MP Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy Chief Minister.
Mr. Sujaya Krishna Ranga Rao, who presided, read out the names who attended the meeting. The regional conference aimed to meet party coordinators and leaders from these three districts turned out to be a public meeting in a community hall.
All along her one-hour-long address, people were seen moving in and out of the hall due to suffocation thus causing more inconvenience to bystanders. A number of people could not enter the hall to have a glimpse of their party leaders. Over and above the inconvenience, the scorching heat worsened the situation. The closed circuit television sets that the party arranged on either side of the entrance to the hall went blank while she was addressing the meeting. Even the mike system too stopped functioning at times.
