Forty-three probationary Deputy Superintendents of Police, including 23 women, who assumed charge of sub-divisions called on Home Minister P. Sabitha Indra Reddy in the Secretariat on Monday.

Additional DG (Training) Tejdeep Kaur Menon introduced the newly recruited DSPs to the Home Minister who advised them to discharge their duties with honesty, transparency and establish a rapport with people in their area. They should ensure peace and maintain law and order which was crucial for the development of the State, she said.

The DSPs were recruited through APPSC (Group-I) examinations. Of the 64 DSPs selected, 57 joined the induction training in the AP Police Academy. Several among the newly-appointed DSPs were highly qualified academically, including doctors, MBA, engineering, law and computer science graduates and post-graduates.

Earlier, in his office, Director General of Police V. Dinesh Reddy exhorted the new recruits to discharge their duties with empathy and give priority to the aged, women and weaker sections.
