A Digital Library, first of its kind in the city, will be opened at the Andhra Loyola College on Friday. The special library, set up at the Father Gordon library and equipped with over one lakh books will be open for everyone. In the current age of communication everything is digitised, said College Principal Fr. G.A.P. Kishore. These digital libraries will be of great help to students as many people at a time can read the same book, he said. This library will also aid in sending and receiving of information from anywhere anytime, he added.

A national-level seminar on “Developing a fully-fledged digital library system” will also be conducted to mark the birth centenary celebrations of Rev. Fr. Douglas Gordon. Around 56 research papers were submitted out of which 45 will be presented in this two-day seminar, said librarian G.M. Prasad Rao. All these papers were also compiled into a book of two volumes which will be released on this occasion, he said. The seminar will take place in the Father Gordon library on college premises on Friday and Saturday.
