Believe that the former Minister was given shabby treatment
Several Congress workers criticised the party’s high command alleging that it had given shabby treatment to Dharmana Prasada Rao, though he played a key role in strengthening the party in Srikakulam which was considered an ‘anti-Congress district.’ According to them, the Congress used to face rough weather even before the emergence of the Telugu Desam Party but the situation had slowly improved from 1989 with the initiatives of Mr.Prasada Rao.
They expressed anguish at the Indira Vignan Bhavan on Monday when Mr.Prasada Rao came to participate in the function to observe former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s death anniversary. Gondu Krishnamurthy of Arasavilli said that the party high command should have accepted his resignation on August 14, 2012, instead of showing him the door in a disgraceful manner.
“The Congress gained strength in Srikakulam only with the planning of Mr.Prasada Rao.
It is unfair to remove him from the Ministry, although the entire Cabinet was responsible for allocation of land to Vanpic project,” he said. INTUC leader Gangula Appalachari said that the party high command had given Mr.Prasada Rao a ‘big gift’ for playing a major role in winning of nine out of 10 Assembly seats in Srikakulam district. Party activist K. Satish said that the Congress would face the music for adopting ‘wrong’ policies.
Tekkali MLA Korla Bharati and Palasa MLA Juttu Jagannaikulu expressed their solidarity with Mr.Prasada Rao. Other senior leaders maintained a silence over the acceptance of his resignation. Mr.Prasada Rao who participated in local programmes on Monday left for Hyderabad in the evening.
He is likely to interact with advocates and and his confidants to face the CBI charges legally. He has to appear in court on June 7 in the Vanpic case.
