Director-General of Police K. Aravinda Rao has been declared qualified for award of Ph.D by Potti Sriramulu Telugu University for his thesis ‘Epistemological reasoning in upanishads'.
The viva voce on the single volume thesis submitted by Mr. Rao was held under the chairmanship of university Vice-Chancellor A. Bhumaiah on Saturday.
Later, Controller of Examinations Venkatramaiah notified that Mr. Rao had qualified for the award of the doctorate, which would be presented to him at the university convocation in July.
Mr. Rao toldThe Hinduthat he had registered for Ph.D under Sanskrit professor Sripada Subrahmaniam in 2001 when he held a lighter assignment as Additional DGP. He worked on it studiously till 2004 but his appointment as Additional DGP (Intelligence) after the Congress rode to power in that year slowed down the progress of the dissertation for the next five years. He said he found time to spend on the thesis when he assumed the reigns of the Anti-Corruption Bureau in late 2009. But, the past few months had again been hectic for him in the role of DGP but he managed to complete the work.
