Husband of G. Sirisha left her after she gave birth to twin daughters

NALGONDA: Exposing the prevalence of discrimination towards baby girls, a man deserted his wife for giving birth to twin daughters in Huzurnagar mandal recently.

The blatant discriminatory act came to light here on Monday when the victimised woman turned up at the Collectorate seeking justice.

G. Sirisha (19), a native of Appannapet in Garidepalli mandal, was allegedly deserted by her husband G. Balu, a daily wage driver of Madhavarayanigudem, after she gave birth to twin daughters a few weeks ago. Although visibly weak, Sirisha came all the way to the Collectorate along with her poor parents and twins in the morning to submit petition to the Collector in connection with the weekly grievance redressal day.

Later, Sirisha submitted a memorandum to Collector S.A.M. Rizvi for justice. Subsequently, Sirisha approached the Miryalaguda RDO Sanjeeva Reddy . When contacted, Mr. Sanjeeva Reddy said that a counselling session would be conducted at Huzurnagar on Tuesday to redress the grievance of Sirisha.
