Hunger strike by committee leaders seeking filling of vacancies enters third day

KADAPA: Telugu Desam Party MLA of Proddatur M. Linga Reddy on Wednesday assured SGT Posts Sadhana Committee leaders, who are on an indefinite hunger strike for the third day, that he would take up the issue of filling of notified SGT posts with the State Government.

Temporary postings

Mr. Linga Reddy and TDP leaders G. Lakshmi Reddy, K. Balakrishna Yadav and A. Mallikarjuna visited the hunger strike camp before the Kadapa Collectorate and expressed solidarity with the fasting Sadhana Committee leaders. Accusing the Congress government of failing to fill 32,000 SGT posts notified in DSC 2008, the MLA recalled that temporary postings were given to the qualified SGT candidates in 2006 when a similar problem arose.

The Desam leader recalled that 1.60 lakh teachers were appointed by conducting seven DSCs during Telugu Desam Party’s nine-year rule. A.P. Teachers Federation district president K. Chenchi Reddy resented the delay in filling the posts notified eight months ago.

SGT Posts Sadhana Committee leaders S. Subbaraju Yadav and P. Munisekhar continued their indefinite fast for the third day and ABVP district co-convenor M. Ramana staged relay fast. State Urdu Teachers Association district general secretary Syed Iqbal also expressed support to the fasting leaders.
