He is falling into the trap of TRS, says Erabelli

Senior MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy continued to be defiant despite party president N. Chandrababu Naidu's warning to hold all meetings under the party banner, and he walked out of the Telangana Telugu Desam Forum's extended meeting here on Friday over the issue.

But unlike the previous Forum meeting when groups of MLAs shouted at each other, Dr. Janardhan Reddy was almost isolated with all others including MLAs, MLCs, MPs, district party presidents, and other functionaries vociferously rejecting his proposal of carrying on a movement for Telangana without the party flag. He came out of the meeting in a huff after an argument with former Hyderabad Mayor, Teegala Krishna Reddy, and told media persons that he would go alone.

The near unanimous view as articulated by the new Forum convenor, Erabelli Dayakar Rao, later at a press conference was that they should fight for Statehood with party flag as was the case with TRS, Congress, CPI, and BJP. They would drop the party flag even now, the moment the other parties did the same as was unanimously decided by Telangana political Joint Action Committee meeting, several months ago.

He said Dr. Janardhan Reddy was falling into the trap of TRS, which was the first party to violate the JAC decision and which now wants to decimate TDP in Telangana. The Forum MLAs were prepared to resign even now and boycott elections to local bodies in Telangana, provided all political parties agreed.

On Dr. Janardhan Reddy's charge that the Forum did not take up any action programme till he held the meeting in his Nagarkurnool constituency, Armoor MLA Y. Annapurnamma blamed the former saying he was convenor all this while. No decision was taken on attending the public meeting organised by senior MLA, K. Harishwar Reddy, in his constituency, Parigi, on Saturday without the party banner, the second one after Nagarkurnool. Mr. Harishwar Reddy did not attend Friday's meeting.

Mr. Dayakar Rao said the proposed “padayatra” from Telangana Martyrs Memorial here to Yadagirigutta on May 23 has been postponed owing to Mahanadu, and instead, a public meeting would be held in Karimnagar on May 25.
