With the Centre initiating the process of carving out separate Telangana state, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi district unit has decided to garner support from the people by conducting ‘Deeksha Diwas’ on November 29.

It coincides with the arrest of party president K. Chandrasekhar Rao four years ago in Karimnagar town when he was on his way to Siddipet to participate in fast-unto-death programme demanding separate Telangana.

Accordingly, the party district unit leaders under the leadership of former MP B. Vinod Kumar, district president Eda Shankar Reddy, former MLC N. Laxman Rao and others held a meeting with party in-charges and mandal-level leaders here on Wednesday and chalked out strategies to make the ‘Deeksha Diwas’ a grand success. The party has decided to conduct the programme in all the Assembly segments.

The programme would be conducted in a big way in Manakondur mandal where Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao was arrested on November 29, 2009.

It is learnt that the party activists have informed the mandal leaders and Assembly segment in-charges to launch special campaigns in all the villages to educate people on how TRS fought for Telangana.

The party leaders have also decided to pay rich tributes to Telangana martyrs during the ‘Deeksha Diwas’.

Special Correspondent adds: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) will observe ‘Deeksha Diwas’ on November 29 in connection with the completion of four years of ‘Telangana vachudo KCR chachudo’ hunger strike undertaken by party president K. Chandrasekhar Rao. Activists and Telangana protagonists will stage hunger strikes at respective Assembly constituency headquarters in Adilabad district on that day.

TRS west district president Loka Bhuma Reddy told the reporters here on Wednesday that celebrations on success of Mr. Rao’s deeksha will follow only after Telangana is formed.

He said the first phase of training classes to cadres was a success in 11 mandals and expected a large number of them to attend the second phase training programme starting November 30.
