Resolution to be sent to high command
DCC seeks Bharat Ratna for YSR
Party cadre told to help the poor
VIZIANAGARAM: The District Congress Committee has adopted among three other resolutions that Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Lok Sabha member and son of late Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, be made Chief Minister, if all the cherished dreams and welfare activities launched by his father were to be continued. DCC president K.Veerabhadra Swamy said that it was decided to send a copy of the resolution to the party high command for positive action. He said that striving for the party and adopting his schemes were the only tribute to the departed soul.
The DCC also decided to set up statues of YSR in all panchayats, mandal headquarters and municipalities and recommended ‘Bharat Ratna’ as he was a role model for other Chief Ministers to emulate. It offered condolences to the bereaved families of the other four killed in the crash and also party sympathisers who died of heart attack and those who ended lives on hearing news of the tragedy over television channels.
Botsa Sartyanarayana, Minister for Panchayat Raj, who was the chief guest, seconded the DCC resolutions. He turned emotional while saying that YSR with his historical ‘padayatra’ brought sheen to the lost glory of the party and was instrumental for retaining power for the second successive term in the State. He said that ‘Arogya Sri’ scheme for the poor was his brainchild. He appealed to cadre to adopt his schemes and assist the needy poor. He hoped that the AICC would honour sentiments of the majority people.
