The Medak District Congress Committee (DCC) has fixed a target of enrolling two lakh members in the next three months in the district.
50 persons per booth
As part of this drive, DCC president V. Bhoopal Reddy, along with PCC general secretary P. Narsimha Reddy and A. Bhaskar, has been meeting party legislators and other leaders to urge them to commence the drive.
He met Government Whip T Jayaprakash Reddy on Thursday and handed him over the enrolment books.
Changes in membership rules
Later speaking to reporters, Mr. Bhoopal Reddy and Narasimha Reddy said that their target was to get at least 20,000 members in each constituency and a minimum of 50 members per booth.
Now the membership is valid for five years instead of three years earlier.
“At the State level, we have fixed a target of 50 lakh members as against the present membership of 35 lakh. We will appoint two coordinators for each constituency to complete this job,” they said.
Mr. Bhoopal Reddy said that the DCC meeting would be held after the assembly session in consultation with all legislators, MPs and MLCs from the district.
