HYDERABAD: Minister for Labour G. Vinod stressed the need for developing software for reporting information on chemical disasters in the country.

He was speaking at a workshop organised by the Ministry of Environment & Forests, National Safety Council and the Department of Factories of State Government on sharing software developed by the National Informatics Centre for reporting accidents and developing an accurate database.

Authorities from Factories department, Explosives departments, Mine safety and Dock safety departments participated in the meeting. Rajeshwar Tiwari, Member Secretary, A.P. Pollution Control Board, said that the workshop would help in bringing out a consolidated information system by closer interaction with all the law enforcement agencies. Sanjay Singh Gahlout, Director, NIC, gave a presentation explaining the basic features of the reporting system.

R. Koteshwara Rao, Director of Factories, Andhra Pradesh, explained the benefits of such system.
