Health Minister Danam Nagender and Panchayat Raj Minister Botcha Satyanarayana locked horns yet again during a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday forcing other colleagues to intervene.

The special cabinet meeting convened by the Chief Minister K.Rosaiah to discuss the grim flood situation in coastal Andhra witnessed the two Ministers engaging in a spat over the regularisation of lands occupied by the poor.

Sources said Mr. Nagender wanted the Cabinet to consider his plea for amending rules in the Twin Cities to allow regularisation of such land to the extent of 120 square feet instead of the present 100 sq feet.

Mr. Satyanarayana objected on the ground that Hyderabad could not be treated as a separate unit for extending such a concession. “The problem persists in other places and there should be a uniform policy,” he was quoted as saying.

Mr Nagender is said to have expressed displeasure at the interference of Mr. Satyanarayana. Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao reportedly remarked that such requests had been received from all over the State and the matter had to be discussed. The Chief Minister is said to have pointed out that it was not proper for Ministers to get into argument over small issues and also pulled up Ministers for leaking Cabinet deliberations to the media causing embarrassment. He reminded the Ministers that they had were sworn by an oath of secrecy.
