HYDERABAD: Congress MLA R. Damodar Reddy on Wednesday caused a flutter in the Assembly lobbies by suggesting that the Chief Minister, K. Rosaiah, be replaced by Panchayat Raj Minister Botcha Satyanarayana “till Telangana is formed”.
Addressing a media conference, Mr. Damodar Reddy who attended the Assembly for the first time after his resignation was rejected by the Speaker, said he supported Mr. Satyanarayana and other Congress leaders who favoured separate Andhra as it would help the cause of separate Telangana.
Two others whose papers were rejected, Ch. Mutyam Reddy of Congress and Maheshwar Reddy of Praja Rajyam too attended the session today.
But unfortunately the Chief Minister Mr. Rosaiah was not in favour of it, Mr. Damodar Reddy said .
He said he and other party MLAs from Telangana would wait till the Srikrishna Committee submits its report by December 31. If Telangana was not formed by that day, all MLAs would resign. They would not hesitate to quit the party too for the sake of Telangana.
He expected the Telugu Desam MLAs from the region to do the same.
To a question, he agreed that the resignations would only lead to bye-elections and welcomed the decision of the TRS president and MP, K. Chandrasekhar Rao and his colleague in Lok Sabha, Vijayashanthi not to submit their resignation.
