Instead, he will be flying to Hong Kong today
Deputy Chief Minister C. Damodar Raj Narasimha is flying to Hong Kong on Saturday night, two days ahead of the visit of Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy to Medak district on April 29.
Relations under strain
Lending credence to reports that their relations were under strain, the Deputy CM has decided to cleanly skip Mr. Reddy’s visit to his home district of Medak.
However, Mr Raj Narasimha met Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy and reportedly expressed his inability to attend the ‘Indiramma Kalalu’ programme in Medak.
Apart from this, Mr. Raj Narasimha was conspicuous by his absence at the ‘Dalit Sankharavam’ organised by Congress MP from Amalapuram, G. V. Harsha Kumar, in Rajahmundry last year when the Chief Minister was conferred the title of ‘Dalit Atmabandhu’.
Keeps away from ‘Indiramma Kalalu’
He also kept away from the ‘Indiramma Kalalu’ programme aimed at highlighting the Congress’ achievement in giving legislative backing to the SC and ST Sub Plans.
Congress sources said that he was unhappy with the Chief Minister for not being consulted on the constitution of the nodal agency after enactment of the SC/ST Sub Plan legislation.
The Deputy CM was the chairman of the Cabinet Sub Committee on the SC/ST Sub Plan that submitted a detailed report on the utilisation of funds earmarked for the purpose.
Nodal agency split
He was expecting to be appointed chairman of the nodal agency, but Mr. Kiran Reddy split the nodal agency into two and appointed Social Welfare Minister Pithani Satyanarayana and Tribal Welfare Minister P.Balaraju as chairpersons.
It is believed that the Deputy Chief Minister was also expecting to be offered the home portfolio when he was elevated last year. It is said that he has still has not given up hope.
