Move to supply water daily to other municipalities on the city suburbs

New supervisory control and data acquisition system launched to tap unaccounted water

HYDERABAD: Here’s some good news for residents of Kukatpally and L.B. Nagar. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) is planning to supply daily drinking water to these areas from March end. This was announced by Board Managing Director G. Ashok Kumar after Energy Minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir inaugurated the swank office building in Khairatabad on Friday. Mr. Kumar explained that 80 per cent of the areas in Kukatpally and L.B. Nagar would get drinking water daily from March end, instead of alternate days. Plans have also been drawn up to ensure daily water supply to other municipalities on the city suburbs within a few months.

He said that a new supervisory control and data acquisition system, which is first of its kind in the country, was also launched to tap unaccounted water through division wise. “This system will enable us to tap unaccounted water and constantly monitor water levels in reservoirs,” he explained. Mr. Kumar said construction of two towers was commenced in February last year with a cost of Rs.22 crore. Of the two towers, one of them was completed in record time.
