‘Bhog’ will be served in the mornings, says B.C. Burman, general secretary
VISAKHAPATNAM: The Sarbojanin and East Coast Railway Durga puja committee will be celebrating Durga Puja at the Waltair Kalimatha Temple. Several cultural programmes have been lined up from September 24 to 28. “Devotees from all communities can participate in the Durga Utsav. Traditional ‘bhog’ (community meal) will be served in the mornings,” said B.C. Burman, general secretary of the committee at a press meet on Tuesday.
Singer Maya Chakraborty will be performing on September 24. Musical orchestra will be organised on September 26 and Arpita Dey, winner of Zee TV Saregama, will give a performance on September 27.
Speaking about the activities of the committee during the past year, Mr. Burman said that the committee had donated an amount of Rs. 40,000 towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for flood victims.
Free homeopathy camp, yoga camp, pranic healing workshops and donations at social organisations like Prema Samajam are some of the activities undertaken by the Durga puja committee.
The Kali Matha Temple at R.K. Beach received a stream of devotees for the Navaratri celebrations. Various cultural programmes will be held in the evenings at the temple during the festival.
