The Andhra Pradesh State Cultural Council has initiated process for a first of its kind live telecast of the plays selected under theatre festival.

The Council has received over 80 applications from interested art groups and their scrutiny will be conducted on November 13 for identifying eight best plays. The plays would be telecast live on Doordarshan on November 29 and 30.

Council Chairman R.V. Ramana Murthy told reporters here on Thursday that live telecast of the plays was contemplated in view of the alleged biased decisions of the selection panel.

While the best among the eight plays would be given a trophy, the Prasar Bharti would pay remuneration to the participants in line with charges fixed by the corporation.

Art exhibition

Mr. Ramana Murthy said that the Central Lalit Kala Academy had invited applications from artistes for the 53 {+r} {+d} national art exhibition which would showcase 120 best art works in painting, sculpting, graphics, multi-media and other categories. The academy would select 10 best works and award Rs. 1 lakh each to the winners.

Last date
