The crocodile that surfaced at a construction site at Nanakramguda remained elusive on Thursday even as officials deployed motor pumps to drain off water from the site the entire day.

Since the crocodile has surfaced in water accumulated over an acre site that has been estimated to be 25 feet to 30 feet deep, pumping away the water would take some more time, the Forest Department officials said.

Almost 12 hours after the exercise was started, hardly three to four feet of water was removed by evening.
