Two workers electrocutedTwo workers got electrocuted while lifting iron pipes in the city on Sunday. Dharmendra, 17, working in Ispat iron factory at Babulreddynagar in Rajendranagar, sustained burns when the iron pipes he lifted came in contact with high-tension wires, the police said. He died on the way to hospital. Venkat Rao, 20, of BRC company in Vanasthalipuram, died in a similar accident, according to the police.
Succumbs to burnsShabana Begum, 26, who was allegedly doused in kerosene and set ablaze by her husband Yahiya three days ago, died in Osmania General Hospital on Sunday. The Falaknuma police altered the sections of law from attempt to murder to that of murder against Yahiya. The victim, from Fatimanagar, in her dying declaration reportedly said her husband had been harassing her for some time and tried to burn her to death.
Vendor murderedA petty vendor, Mohan Rao, 37, was found murdered near his house at Babanagar of Nacharam on Monday morning. According to Nacharam Inspector Amarkanth Reddy, the victim left the house around 4.30 a.m. His family found his body, inflicted with knife injuries, a couple of hours later.
Cash stolenTwo youngsters made away with Rs. 30,000 after diverting attention of a person at Ameerpet on Monday. Kondaiah and his son Ramesh had gone to a diagnostic centre near Lalbungalow. While his son went inside, Kondaiah sat in the car when a stranger asked him if the currency notes lying on the ground belonged to him. He got down, collected a couple of notes and returned to the car only to find the cash bag containing Rs. 30,000 stolen from the rear seat, the Punjagutta police said.
