Held on charge of duping jobless
The city police on Friday arrested a person on the charge of cheating unemployed youths by promising them jobs in the South Central Railway.
The police said accused person Abdul Rehman (35) of Bholakpur in Secunderabad sent `appointment letters' to aspirants.
When they enquired with railway officials, it was found that Rehman had sent forged appointment letters.
Antique idol of goddess stolen
An antique idol of goddess Muthyalamma was stolen from a temple in Kanchanbagh on Friday.
According to the police, some persons who knew the topography of the locality could have committed the offence. The police registered a theft case under Section 379 of the Indian Penal Code.
Three held, stolen mobiles recovered
The police arrested three persons on the charge of stealing mobile phones and vehicles.
Mohammed Aijaz (26) of Ameerpet was arrested while he was allegedly trying to sell a stolen vehicle at Ameerpet.
Based on his confession, Sardar Harjoth Singh (23) of Ameerpet and K Balakrishna (25) of Sanathnagar were also arrested.
A motorcycle and 17 mobile phones, believed to be stolen, were recovered.
