HYDERABAD: A naxalite of CPI-ML Janashakti group, B. Srinivas, 23, who was wanted in several cases of attacks and extortions, was nabbed by Hyderabad police on Monday.

A country-made revolver with two live rounds was seized from him, Commissioner's Task Force DCP. V.B. Kamalasan Reddy told reporters.

The accused hailing from Asarelli village of Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra initially joined CPI-ML Praja Pratighatana naxalite group when he was 18 years old. He worked in Adavi Mutharam, Mahadevpur and Kataram mandal areas of Karimnagar district. He joined Janashakti group after Praja Pratighatana zonal secretary, Suresh, was killed in an encounter with police. Along with other members of the group, he allegedly attacked several forest contractors and extorted money from them in Karimnagar and Warangal districts. He quit the dalam having developed differences with some of its members and had been taking shelter at different places in the State for past couple of years.
