The CPI(M) MLC Ch. Seetharamulu has demanded judicial enquiry into the lathi-charge on the party activists on Tuesday and also action against the police officers responsible for it.
Describing the police action on the Left party workers when they were agitating peacefully before the Collectorate on the public problems as “barbaric” and “undemocratic”, he appealed to all the political parties to condemn it. The very idea behind using the force was to disperse the agitators but not targeting them, he added.
About 80 activists sustained injuries and of them 10 were seriously injured and undergoing treatment at the government hospital, he said. Accompanied by the CPI (M) Central Committee members S. Veeraiah and Y.Venkateswar Rao, Mr. Seetharamulu here on Wednesday called on the lathi-charge victims and consoled them. They enquired about the condition of the party cadres Ramesh Babu, P. Venkateswarlu, Muthenna, Chandrasekhar and Narsamma at the hospital.
Mr. Venkateswar Rao said 10 Left parties would meet on December 15 to chalk out the future course of action.
