Demands compensation toflood victims of Kandrika

The Communist Party of India-Marxist CPI(M) has laid siege to Vijayawada Rural MRO office here demanding the government to pay compensation to flood victims in Kandrika.

CPI(M) city secretary Ch. Babu Rao on Saturday said that the government has not paid compensation to the flood victims though it has promised to pay a compensation of Rs. 3,000. In a hush-hush manner, very few selected people got the compensation. More than 90 per cent people were deprived of the compensation announced by the government, he said.

The government very religiously follows the rules regarding payment of electricity charges etc. The power supply is snapped immediately if the bill was not cleared. Likewise, it acts in similar fashion regarding the payment of water bills. However, it has no time and concern to pay the compensation, he alleged, adding the people will lay siege to MLAs, MP, RDO and MRO offices if the compensation was not paid immediately.
