CPI-M State secretariat member Ch. Narasinga Rao demanded speedy completion of social audits and immediate payment of arrears to tribal beneficiaries, who were involved in the Coffee Project but were not paid their dues. The district officials held extensive talks with CPI(M) and Girijana Sangham leaders at the Zilla Parishad office on Tuesday in the wake of the scam in the project. Mr. Narasinga Rao sought completion of social audits in the remaining mandals within three months as promised and sought transparency in future payments to rule out the scope for frauds. He said the ‘Payment form’ of the NREGS didn’t provide adequate space for the beneficiary to put his thumb impression and this should be rectified.
