HYDERABAD: The Secunderabad zone committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Thursday organised a protest programme at the Secunderabad Cantonment Board office demanding better civic amenities for residents of Ward No. 2.
The ward, which comprises several slum areas including Rasoolpura, Annanagar and Ambedkar Nagar among others, has more than 70,000 people. Residents were facing difficulties due to severe shortage of water and lack of drainage facilities, committee secretary N. Somaiah said.
In a memorandum submitted to Cantonment Executive Officer Valeti Premchand, the party demanded water connections to all residents apart from development programmes.
Laying of internal roads and installing a drainage network were also among the demands.
