Activists of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) took out a rally demanding the Machavaram Police to take action against those who reportedly attacked Kula Vivaksha Vyathirekha Porata Samithi (KVPS) district secretary Chautupalli Ravi and the CPI (M) District Education Committee member Sujatha.

CPI(M) Mogalrajapuram secretary G. Nataraju, who led the activists, alleged workers of the YSR Congress Party entered Mr Ravi's house near Mogalrajapuram CSI church and beat him up injuring his head on the night of October 15.

Mr Ravi lodged a complaint against the assailants the same night, but the police have yet to take action against the accused, Mr Nataraju alleged.

The alleged attack by YSR Party activists on Mr Ravi, an office bearer of KVPS, and Ms Sujatha with sticks and stone was condemned by the CPI (M), Mr Nataraju said.

He said the delay in police action would only lead to more such trouble creating miscreants losing fear to disturb public peace and demanded that the police take action against those named in the complaint lodged in Machavaram police station.

The CPI (M) city secretary R. Raghu and Mr Ravi, who is still wearing a bandage around his head, and other party leaders participated in the protest rally.
