CPI State Secretary K. Narayana has demanded that the State Government request the Centre to send a central team examine and assess the loss caused by floods and Nilam cyclone in the State. In a letter to Chief Minister on Thursday, Dr. Narayana wanted him to lead an all-party delegation to the Prime Minister to explain the flood havoc and prevail upon him to release funds from the National Calamity Relief Fund. Farmers who suffered crop loss should be compensated by Rs. 10,000 per acre for food crops and Rs. 20,000 per acre for commercial crops, he said. –Special Correspondent
