Communist Party of India (CPI) district secretary G. Easwaraiah warned on Monday that the party would obstruct Rachchabanda programme and called upon people to confront officials who visit their colonies, as they failed to allot house sites to the poorer sections so far.

Addressing the activists who picketed Kadapa tahsildar office here, he alleged that the government failed to render justice to the poor in Indiramma scheme and later issued coupons in Rachchabanda programme promising them house sites.

He accused officials of being reluctant to allot house sites to the poor, but filing cases against those putting up huts.

Indiramma colonies were not provided basic amenities and houses were being discreetly allotted to Congress sympathisers, he alleged.

Revenue officials were unofficially giving house sites to the beneficiaries recommended by Ministers, but were making the poor run from pillar to post stating that fresh layouts were being prepared.

He demanded steps to safeguard government lands from encroachers and to allot house sites to the deserving poor.

Mr. Easwaraiah, city secretary G. Chandra and partymen apprised Kadapa tahsildar Srinivasulu on encroachments in Sagar Colony and Kummarakunta.

The tahsildar Srinivasulu assured action against all the encroachers and allotment of house sites to the poor within a month.
