Lingampalli, Gandi and Buggavanka water works which catered to the drinking water needs of Kadapa had low water storage and officials should take steps in advance to avert drinking water scarcity in the ensuing summer, as Pennar river dried up and the groundwater levels fell steeply, CPI district secretary G. Easwaraiah said on Thursday. Mr. Easwaraiah inspected Lingampalli water works and demanded completion of a water scheme and reservoir in Kadapa conceived in former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s rule to draw water from Somasila backwater to Kadapa. –Special Correspondent
