Communist Party of India State secretary K. Narayana on Wednesday demanded that Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy remove V. Dinesh Reddy from the position of Director General of Police as he had allegedly misused the law and police powers openly, to file cases against the electronic and print media.

Several television channels and publications had reported on September 13, the meeting between Mr. Reddy and a godman in the Old City on September 12. In a secular set-up, Mr. Narayana said a high-level police officer in the State calling on godmen would send wrong signals to the society and encourage superstitions, he pointed out.
